What’s included in a drysuit repair?

At Northern Diver, our price list covers a range of services designed to restore and enhance your drysuit.

Here’s what’s included in our repair fees:
• Our fees cover the supply of a single repair part or item (unless otherwise specified).
• We handle the removal of old or damaged parts from your drysuit.
• The new parts are expertly fitted to ensure your drysuit is fully functional and restored to its best condition.
• Please note that we reserve the right to charge an additional fee for cleaning dirty drysuits received for repair or alteration. To avoid extra charges, ensure your drysuit is clean before sending it in.

Do I need to clean my drysuit before sending it back to Northern Diver?

Before sending your drysuit to Northern Diver for repair, it’s crucial that the suit is clean and dry. This means removing all mud, dirt, and contaminants. Our team’s safety is a top priority, and we cannot handle contaminated items. Please note: if your drysuit arrives dirty, we reserve the right to refuse processing. In such cases, we will either return the suit to you immediately or charge a cleaning fee. This policy ensures the health and safety of our team. This does not affect your statutory rights.

How do I pack my drysuit for repair?

To prevent damage to your drysuit, follow these packing tips:

1. Avoid crumpling: Do not stuff your drysuit into a small box. This can damage the zipper.
2. Rolling method: Lay your suit flat with the zipper side up. Start rolling from the feet, and as you reach the armpits, fold the neck inwards. Continue folding the arms and rolling tightly. This method compresses the suit, reducing air and ensuring the zipper is protected.
3. Choose the right box: Use a sturdy box that’s adequately sized. If the box is too large, use padding like bubble wrap to fill extra space.
4. Avoid sharp objects: Ensure the box has no sharp items like staples or metal fastenings that could damage your suit.
5. Include documentation: Write your return address on or inside the box. Include a printed confirmation sheet or a cover letter with your contact information (name, address, phone number).
6. Seal securely: Use strong tape to seal all edges and openings of the box.
7. No accessories: Do not include any additional items such as storage bags, hoods, or hoses. We cannot accept responsibility for lost items sent unnecessarily.

Should I service my drysuit each year?

If you own a Northern Diver drysuit, we offer comprehensive annual inspection and servicing to ensure your suit remains in optimal condition. Our service includes:

• Full wet pressure test: We conduct a thorough pressure test to check for leaks and faults in your drysuit.

• Repair services: We repair any leaks, faults, and replace worn seals, zips, and knee protection.

• Re-test: After repairs, we re-test the suit to confirm it’s fully functional and ready for use.

Does my drysuit come with a certificate?

As an additional service, we can provide a certificate of inspection for Northern Diver suits, which is often required for insurance purposes. If you need this certification, please contact us.

Should I repair my own drysuit?

For the best results and safety, we recommend that all drysuit repairs and servicing be performed by trained and qualified repair technicians. Ensure your drysuit stays in top condition and meets all necessary standards by scheduling your yearly service and certification with Northern Diver today.

What do I need to be able to use the new system?

All you need is a Northern Diver online account. You might already have an online account if you've bought from us before. If you do, you may just need to activate it by setting up a password. If you don't have an online account, it's easy to set one up. If you are having log in problems contact our team.

What should I do if I cannot book my drysuit in online?

Simply send your suit with a covering letter that includes your contact details (phone and email) and a brief description of the required repairs or alterations that are required. Once we have received your suit our team will check for an account and book your suit in. You will be notified by phone or email.
